WHAT IS DUA
Dua – an Arabic word written here in English letters. Three small letters that make up a word and a subject that is large and breathtaking. This word ‘dua’ could be roughly translated to mean supplication or invocation. Although neither word adequately define dua. Supplication, which means communicating with a deity, comes closer than invocation which is known to sometimes imply summoning spirits or devils.
In Islamic terminology dua is the act of supplication. It is calling out to God; it is a conversation with God, our Creator, our Lord, the All Knowing, and the All Powerful. In fact, the word is derived from the Arabic root meaning to call out or to summon. Dua is uplifting, empowering, liberating and transforming and it is one of the most powerful and effective acts of worship a human being can engage in. Dua has been called the weapon of the believer. It affirms a person’s belief in One God and it shuns all forms of idolatry or polytheism. Dua is essentially submission to God and a manifestation of a person’s need for God.
Benefits of doing Dua
There are many advantages to making Dua of Allah Almighty some of them we have listed below:
Loss of arrogance – When we do Dua we submit that Allah is the only creator and He is the Mighty and all is under control of Him. We are nothing before Him, we must ask Him. The fulfillment of Dua– For people who sometimes see that their Duas are not accepted, there is either the option that the Dua will be accepted later in this life or in the hereafter or the option that the Dua will be accepted by others want to say. So, what about to learn the Value and Importance of Dua in Islam. The Holy Prophet (SAW) said: “Whoever does Dua to Allah, Allah does his research or in exchange avoids misfortune until the Dua is not related to sin or breaks any relationship” (Tirmidhi). So, if we do not see that our Dua is accepted immediately, we should not despair because either it will help us against a misfortune, or it could be accepted later. Dua has the power to change fate – Prophet (SAW) said, “Dua diverts fate and good deeds lengthen the age.” (Tirmidhi) Dua opened the doors of Mercy – The Holy Prophet (SAW) said: “For whoever has opened the door of Dua, for him the gates of mercy are open.” (Tirmidhi) Dua can change our life and our destiny. It is the most powerful weapon. But this only works for those who are sincerely and seriously trying to use it. As a Muslim, we should never give up, because we have the ultimate weapon to counter our fears, depression, oppression and adversity in the form of Dua.
How does Dua work By Dr. Honey love
Regardless of what sect, linguistic group or ethnicity we belong to, most of us pray to Allah Almighty for even the minutest things in our life. Sometimes, our dua are answered, and other times they are delayed, and some other times, we do not see the response. What does the Qur`an tell us about the right methodology of dua, and when does it get answered?
During these difficult times we all need duas and additionally a positive response to our duas.
In one of the passages of the Qur`an, Allah records the dua of the Muslims of Mecca who after the establishment of a Muslim state in Medina were left stranded, facing severe persecution. They were subject to all kinds of harassment and torture. They prayed to Allah Almighty saying, Our Lord, take us out of this city whose inhabitants are wrongdoers! Give us a protector from You! Give us a helper from You! (Surat an-Nisaa: 75)
Allah has the power to whisk each of them away from Mecca without anyone knowing. Allah has the power of causing destruction to the city.
Allah has the power of punishing the oppressor in an exemplary manner. But the manner Allah chose to respond to the prayers of the Muslims of Mecca was unique and practical.
He asked the Muslims of Medina who had created a state and were in control of material resources the following; What reason could you have for not fighting in the Way of Allah-for those men, women and children who are oppressed and say, Our Lord, take us out of this city whose inhabitants are wrongdoers! Give us a protector from You! Give us a helper from You! (Surat an-Nisaa: 75)
The prayer was responded to. and thus, Allah taught us how the prayer is responded.
He invites the people who are well established and settled to come to the rescue of those who are less fortunate.
In these difficult times, our prayers will be responded when those who are in a position of authority and influence sincerely come forward to help those who are in need of help.
Based on this model of the Qur`anic message, can those amongst us who have been blessed with knowledge and resources create an alternative to help overcome their economic woes and can they be the ones inspired by Allah to help people get a response to their dua.
